Tv in the 2010s

1. Explain technological convergence. [2]

it is when tv is available on a range of devices such as mobile phones, games consoles and tablets.

2. Explain 'channel surfing'. [2]

it is a routine for broadcast television where content is streamed as either box sets or individual programmes.

3. Give 3 examples of how channels create brand loyalty [6]

-Serial narratives in some dramas encourage loyalty as in order to follow the storyline, audiences have to regularly tune in and watch new episodes.

-Some dramas contain a lot of mystery and suspense, grabbing the audiences attention.

-Some channels rely on certain popular shows that encourage the audience to stream them from that channel.

4. What is 'long form television drama' ? [2]

Long form television drama is where the show goes on for a while with new episodes regularly occurring. this tests the audiences loyalty for the show because they have to constantly be engaging with the show to keep up with the storyline.

5. What is a 'flagship' programme? [2]

A flashgrip programme is a show that has been created to entertain a certain category of people. these people will continue to watch this programme as it is dedicated to their interests.

6. In exchange for the licence fee, what does the regulator require of the BBC as a Public Service Broadcasting channel? [6]
